How might the Metro Vancouver region more effectively respond to future heat events?

Our work
The Integrated Partnership for Regional Emergency Management (IPREM) is an inter-governmental entity and partnership established in April 2009 between the Province of British Columbia (B.C.) and the Metro Vancouver Regional District (MVRD), on behalf of its member jurisdictions (21 municipalities, one Treaty First Nation and one electoral area).

SHIFT Collaborative designed and facilitated a virtual Extreme Heat Forum, hosted by IPREM, to bring together local government Emergency Program Coordinators and other partners from across the Metro Vancouver region to discuss what was done as a region in response to the three heat events in summer 2021 and explore the regional challenges, gaps, and how the region can respond more effectively to future heat events. SHIFT Collaborative produced a final report that summarized the forum outcomes from the presentations and small group discussions.
