The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change. Working Group I of the IPCC is responsible for reporting on the physical science impacts and adaptations. This working group engages over 200 scientists from all parts of the world who need to collaborate to share research, expertise and come to agreement about the implications of the data. SHIFT was privileged to work with authors in early 2019 to provide training and dialogue opportunities around strengthening diversity, inclusion and collaboration. Through this training and support, authors reported that a culture of inclusion was being developed, and there were improvements in participatory mindsets and practices. SHIFT will continue the training at the next in-person meeting in August 2019, supporting authors and chapter teams in consensus-based process.
