Since 2005, the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Community Food Action Initiative (CFAI) has been supporting place-based community-led solutions to improve food security in eight communities in the region. In 2018, SHIFT Collaborative is supporting VCH to undertake an evaluation of the CFAI (2011-2018) with the purpose of identifying and articulating the VCH CFAI model and how this model has achieved objectives such as a) Access to local healthy food; b) Community capacity to address food security; c) Development and use of policy that supports community food security; and d) Awareness about food security and increased food knowledge and skills.
