The problem they came to us with
How might we better understand the experiences, impacts, and lessons learned from the 2021 extreme heat events in Interior B.C.?

Our work
In 2021, the Interior region of B.C. experienced unprecedented heat events that had a significant impact on health and well-being. To better understand the experiences, impacts, and lessons learned from the 2021 heat events, Interior Health worked with SHIFT Collaborative to conduct a region-wide post-event assessment and evaluation specifically focused on the Regional District of the Central Okanagan (Kelowna, West Bank First Nation, West Kelowna, Peachland, and Lake Country) and the Village of Ashcroft. SHIFT Collaborative worked closely with Interior Health to design the evaluation, assessment methodology and tools such as the survey, interview guide and workshops. SHIFT Collaborative led the evaluation and assessment of the Central Okanagan region and developed the final Region Wide Post-Assessment Report.
